How It Works In Our Bodies
 
    Each plant food targets different parts of the body, like broccoli targets the detox pathways, blueberries target the brain and heart, flax targets the stomach and colon, dark leafy greens targets the kidneys. To heal, repair, and utilize these organs optimally, very specific nutrients are needed to work synergistically. The body is a very complex system, much more complex than many of us realize and we are just scraping the surface when it comes to research and discovery. The nutrition field is only less than a century old! So, for vitamins and minerals to process, there are many chain reactions that must take place for even just One vitamin and/mineral to do it’s job and each has its own catalyst or precursor that is needed. If there is even one break in the system, the rest of the vitamins/minerals cannot function properly.
(Side note: This is why supplements cannot replace real food, it’s not just about the one vitamin itself but the hole chain reaction as  a whole.)  
    For example: calcium needs to be transported by Vitamin D= Vitamin D needs magnesium= and magnesium needs phosphorus. All of these vitamins/minerals  are needed in just the right amount and at the same time in order to be utilized. The cool thing in this example is not only does calcium play a very beneficial role in the body, but all of the other nutrients needed in the chain reaction, serve their own function also! This is why nature is SO Amazing! It has prepackaged different plant foods into the perfect combinations of all the many combinations that we needs to heal, repair, and function optimally. We still have not even begun to understand the complexity of these foods and their synergism in our bodies, but we don’t necessarily need to! All we have to do is Eat Plants!!! The body will take care of the rest! 😊 The great thing about eating by color is you can eat based off of your symptoms. Say you have hypertension, you could focus on green foods (for the heart) and red foods (for inflammation). Food Literally Is Medicine! Our bodies know how to heal themselves and wants  to be in a state of health and homeostasis, we just have to put in the right fuel, care, rest, and relaxation!
